I spend an awful lot of time flying. I'm looking out of the window at the night sky somewhere over Iran.
Between Jaipur and New York I always take 3 flights, on the same airlines, at the same time of day through the same cities. It takes about twenty seven hours door to door. I call it a sleep and five movies. At least one of the movies I will sleep through.
Sometimes I throw caution to the wind and fly through a different city. But mostly that’s to do with chocolate, cheese and alcohol. Hello Belgium!
I always eat the same meal in the lounge before flying, as I get very morbid when faced with in-flight food. And will to do the same thing when I transfer in London Heathrow. I have a very specific shopping itinerary in every airport. I like to do it fast and I get grumpy if I get stuck in a queue behind someone dithery.
Today, being Heathrow, it will be soccer magazines (for the 8 year old in the family), Terry’s chocolate orange which I will hide in the cupboard and not allow anyone else to eat (not the 8 year old in the family) a bottle of Pastis and some vintage Cheddar cheese as a peace offering for not sharing the chocolate.
I am obsessed with other peoples’ carry on luggage. How heavy it is and what’s in it. I think about carry on luggage a lot.
Twenty seven hours is a long time….
